Halo: Reach Preview Rocks E3 2010

Posted on June 23, 2010

I’ve always been a Halo fan. I’ve actually been playing since way back in the Combat Evolved days, and I can say that although Halo has changed a lot over the years, it still has the same recurring element: awesomeness!

Halo: Reach, which is the next game after ODST, seems to still follow that same rule. it’s been widely known that Reach is going to be released on September 14th of this year, but Bungie’s E3 presentation on Reach was nothing short of fantastic.

Reach takes place in the year 2552, taking place before the events of Combat Evolved. In the campaign, you control the spartan Noble 6 as you fight the Covenant across vast landscapes and even in space. At one point in the story, you get to control the Saber, which is awesome.

In Reach there are many different permanent power-ups that you can choose to upgrade your suit with. Including jet-packs and active camo. Also dual-wielding is gone in campaign and multiplayer. Forge, Custom games, and theater modes are still included in the game.

Halo: Reach is available for pre-order in three different editions:

  • Standard ($70) – Just the game, nothing more, nothing less.
  • Limited ($100) – Housed in ONI “black box”, exclusive Elite armor set for use in-game, Artifact bag containing Dr. Halsey’s  personal journal and other classified documents.
  • Legendary ($150) – Hand-made Noble team statue, UNSC-themed custom packaging, exclusive multiplayer Spartan armor effect.

Also, Limited and Legendary editions both come with a code that lets you unlock a special Recon helmet for use in-game. Luckily I’ve already pre-ordered my Limited edition and it should be here sometime before the beginning of October! I’m looking forward to Recon!
