App Store Censorship?

Posted on February 20, 2010

Recently Apple has decided to start making some serious changes to it’s famous App Store. It has already started pulling apps from the store that it has deemed “inappropriate for younger audiences” with no warning to the developers whatsoever, it just simply took them off and then emailed the producers later.

Obviously this has made a lot of app store developers extremely unhappy, probably due to the fact that those apps that they spent months of their time creating are now gone, without so much as a word from Apple explaining what happened.

Now, to me this makes no sense at all. Why does Apple let inappropriate songs get sold on its iTunes store but filter the app store so strictly? Couldn’t they put “explicit” tags on apps just as easily as they can on songs? Or is this just another instance of plain Apple stupidity? Leave your comments and tell me what you think.
