Assign Keyboard Shortcuts To Your Favorite Programs

Posted on February 17, 2010

In the last article I wrote, I gave the top 15 keyboard shortcuts that I used on a daily basis. However, those shortcuts are standard with Windows and can be used with any computer. But what if you want to make your own keyboard shortcuts to help you get around? You can’t really make shortcuts for complex tasks without downloading special software, but you can make your own keyboard shortcuts within windows to open your favorite programs.

All you need to do is right-click on the program that you want to assign the keyboard shortcut to and go to properties. Then, you should see a text box with the label “Shortcut Key”. Just go there and type in any key combination that you want to associate with the program (I used Ctrl+Alt+C for Google Chrome) and click Ok! Now whenever you want to open that program just press the keys and you’re there! It’s a great way to save some time and gain productivity.
