New Nintendo DSi Hits North American Stores!

Posted on April 9, 2009

Last October video game giant Nintendo announced the new revolutionary handheld, named the DSi. Now, as of April 5th, it is on most store shelves. Chad Thompson

Yup, it’s true. The DSi has been released! Unfortunately, my wallet isn’t in the best shape right now so I’ll have to wait a few weeks to get mine. In the meantime I can always give you a sneak peek of what’s to come 🙂

Well, the DSi’s main selling point are it’s dual cameras integrated into the system. Unlike the PSP camera which needs to be purchased separately and then attached (bleh!). The system includes built-in photo editing software that lets you play around with your photos. You won’t get any advanced Photoshopish effects but it’s great for killing some time on the bus. The cameras are 0.3 megapixel VGA and won’t be taking any high-resolution images, but is great to snag pictures of yourself or your buddies.

Another slight upgrade is the fact that the screens are 25mm bigger than the older screens. Not a massive change, but clearly noticeable when you compare the two side-by-side.

The DSi also has an SD card slot that you can store pictures and music on and take them with you. Sort of like an iPod.

Well, the DSi has tons more cool features that I would tell you, but I need to save something for when I actually get it and review it sometime in early May. See you then!
